Everyone should have their place on campus
WHAT DO WE DO?
OUR MISSION
MVHS Ambassadors strive to foster inclusiveness and acceptance for all groups, from all corners of campus.
Middle Schools Students (Future Spartans)!
Ambassadors visit the 3 feeder middle schools: Blach, Crittenden and Graham, to inform them about the campus and culture of Mountain View. As "experienced high schoolers" Ambassadors assuage the concerns that parents and teachers are unable to answer.
Upcoming: Spartan Connection! To further ease the transition into freshman year, we are launching a program where we match incoming freshmen to upperclassmen with similar interests.
Transfer Students
When transfer students come to Mountain View High School, an Ambassador is there on day one to give them their campus tour! The Ambassador then acts as a resource for any questions or concerns that may come up. We also hold 2-3 "Transfer Retreats" throughout the year to bring together students who are going through a similar experience of starting fresh.
On the first Tuesday of every month, we host potlucks for transfer students, so that the Ambassadors and transfer students can meet new people and share experiences from their time Mountain View.
Parent Nights
Ambassadors host 8th Grade Parent Night and volunteer at Back to School Night. We provide campus tours, answer questions about classes, extracurriculars, and student life, and help parents navigate their children's' classes!
Meetings
All of the behind the scenes work happens at our weekly meetings! We hold community builders, debrief recent events, and split into committees to plan upcoming initiatives.
Freshmen
Ambassadors participate in and lead Freshman Orientation every year. POD Leaders lead a small "POD" of freshmen through activities to get them familiarized with the MVHS environment.
POD Leaders love supporting and connecting to freshmen throughout the year through ice cream socials, "Freshman Lessons" (where we present to freshman classes), and Q+A sessions.

Why I joined Ambassadors:
I joined Ambassadors because I wanted to give back to the MVHS community. Additionally, I've always known from an early age that I have a passion for helping people. The Ambassadors club allowed me to further foster that passion.

Why I joined Ambassadors:
I joined Ambassadors so that I could be more involved in fostering a school community that gives everyone a voice. Everyone has a different experience at MVHS, and I wanted to help everyone make the most of their time here and cultivate school unity. I love getting so many opportunities to connect with a diverse student body to an extent unique to Ambassadors.

Why I joined Ambassadors:
I joined Ambassadors after coming from an all-girls school with a very small class size. I found that the Ambassadors events, such as the transfer retreat and pods, helped me become more comfortable on campus. I also left went to boarding school the first semester of my junior year, and I felt that coming back allowed me to gain more perspective on what being a new student on campus feels like.
Fun Fact:
I can lick my elbow

Why I joined Ambassadors:
I I joined Ambassadors because I knew I never wanted someone in my situation to feel alone during high school. I came from a pretty small middle school and I barely knew anyone coming in. The POD leader I had was super helpful in answering our questions about high school and it was just great to have someone to talk to. I wanted to be that person for other students so that MVHS could be a more welcoming place.
Fun Fact:
IMy life goal is to travel to all seven continents.

Carly Sussman
Vice President
Grade: Junior
Why I joined Ambassadors:
I joined Ambassadors because I thought the high school kids leading freshman orientation and visiting middle schools were pretty cool. I still remember the Ambassador that visited my middle school to give me a tour, and he told us some “secret” high school tips and told us about his Ambassador experience. Also, all the people I knew who joined Ambassadors seemed pretty nice, and I wanted to be a part of the community that was creating that welcoming experience for incoming students!
Fun fact:
I have visited 12 countries!

Why I joined Ambassadors:
I joined Ambassadors because I love meeting new people and getting involved around campus. I think that inclusivity is something that makes or breaks someone’s high school experience, and I want to ensure that everyone has the best experience possible by making them feel included and welcome at MVHS.
Fun Fact:
My life dream is to interact with a sloth.

Why I joined Ambassadors:
I joined Ambassadors because I came into the school knowing very few people as a transfer student. My POD leader during freshmen orientation helped me get through the first few weeks by answering my questions and checking in. She inspired me to want to keep doing that for other people.
Fun fact:
I’m a second degree black belt.

Why I joined Ambassadors:
I joined Ambassadors because I really enjoy interacting with students around campus and making new friends! When I first moved from Vancouver, I was very isolated from the rest of students on campus. However, I had the great opportunity to attend multiple transfer retreats during the school year. My experiences as an incoming transfer student made me want to help other transfer students entering MHVS and help them feel comfortable and welcomed.
Fun Fact:
I moved from Vancouver, Canada.
ELD (English Language Development) Outreach
MVHS’s ELD program come often come from very different backgrounds than the rest of our students. This year, the Ambassadors Club the Ambassadors Club has reached out to the program to ensure these differences don’t prevent them from feeling like they’re a part of our campus. Ambassadors have started organizing support sessions during tutorial periods and a buddy system between Ambassadors and members of the ELD Community.
To become one of forty Mountain View Ambassadors, you must fill out an application in February/March (they will be released in the activities office). There will also be a short interview.
We strive to make our club representative of the entire Mountain View High School Community.
We encourage you to apply!
